Founded in 1986 by Frank Weimann, The Literary Group International is one of the premier literary agencies in the book publishing industry. The company represents more than 175 authors worldwide. Its formidable client list ranges from novelists, celebrities and public figures, to Nobel and Pulitzer prize winning authors.
The agency’s best selling titles include The Darwin Awards I & II by Wendy Northcutt, First American by HW Brands, Double Deal by Michael Corbitt & Sam Giancana, October Sky (published in hardcover as Rocket Boys) by Homer Hickam, which was made into the successful film of the same name, and Flags Of Our Fathers by James Bradley with Ron Powers, the blockbuster New York Times bestseller about the Marines who raised the flag on Iwo Jima.
In addition to its growing list of achievements in the United States, LGI has successfully placed a diverse spectrum of titles on the international market. The company also handles film, audio, electronic and magazine rights both domestically and abroad.
Among LGI's clients are Homer Hickam, Kary Mullis, Terry Bradshaw, Britney Spears, Bill Russell, Larry Bird,Robert Ellis, and Victoria Gotti.
Ian Kleinert joined the company in September 2002 as an agent. After graduating from The University of Wisconsin, Ian Kleinert started at the Fifi Oscard Agency in 1995 and became a Dramatic Writing Agent. He joined the William Morris Agency in 1999 and soon started working under Owen Laster, the agency's Worldwide Head of Literary Operations. As a Literary Agent he has amassed a client list that includes best selling authors Karen Hunter, David J. Lieberman and Leil Lowndes, celebrity clients Wendy Williams, Iggy Pop, Voletta Wallace and Tommy Chong, and a strong list of up and coming fiction writers including Robert Anderson, D.B. Weiss, John B. Robinson, and Scott Nicholson.
Agent Steve Laube was former Editorial Director for Bethany House Publishers. Steve is responsible for the discovery and development of many of the most talented writers in Christian Publishing. Steve has also won a host of awards in the CBA market, including the Advanced Writers and Speakers Association's Golden Scroll Award for Editor of the Year in 2002.
His primary responsibility at The Literary Group is within the CBA community, nurturing, creating, and helping manage the 150 CBA authors (both fiction and non-fiction) who are under our care. Steve is located in The Literary Group's west coast office in Phoenix, AZ.
