Senior Health Insurance Analyst

The position of senior health insurance analyst requires a diverse skill set with credit analysis at its core. Other key skills include an in-depth understanding of the health insurance / healthcare industry, strong writing skills, an understanding of data and databases and computer proficiency. This position will be analyzing and writing stories

for the TOP supplier of on-line and print information. *You will meet with Newspapers & Newcasters throughout the Nation for interviews. You must be articulate & communicative!

Responsibilities:

Taking full ownership of and being the expert on all aspects of the quantitative health insurance rating model which includes thoroughly understanding the model logic; knowing the source data and implications of accounting practices that derive the data; being cognizant of changes in the reported data, the emergence of new risks that should be measured and potentially incorporated into the model, and overall trends in the industry; and modifying the model logic to implement enhancements

Conducting quarterly rating reviews and evaluating the results to ensure they are accurate and consistent

Working with the database administrator to add or remove fields from databases, to handle data validation problems, and to set up databases for new projects

Ensuring the timely release each quarter of the applicable rating guide

Authoring articles for publication on the flagship website pertaining to health insurance and healthcare.

Staying current on trends and news in the industry in order to keep products current and vital, to evaluate potential model changes, and to be able to speak knowledgeably with company officials and the press

Responding to questions from companies, sales, and customer service staff

Writing and maintaining programming specifications for the development of internal analytical software and product software
