Mike Farris has been a practicing attorney in Dallas, Texas, since graduating cum laude from Texas Tech University School of Law in 1983. Upon graduating in the top 10% of his class, and having served as an assistant editor on the school's Law Review, he was inducted into the prestigious Order of the Coif. He then practiced law for fifteen years with one of the largest law firms in Dallas, and was named a partner after six years. Specializing in commercial litigation, he focused on litigation involving contract surety bonds, financial institution and commercial dishonesty bonds, antitrust, and state and federal securities laws.
In 1998, Mike left the law firm to pursue personal interests such as writing and free-lance editing, while practicing law, including entertainment law, and consulting to novelists and screenwriters.
Susan Morgan Farris obtained an English and Communications degree cum laude from Stephen F. Austin State University in Texas where she served as an editor and staff writer of the campus newspaper. She then obtained a law degree from Texas Tech University School of Law in 1983. Since graduating, she has had a general, mainly civil, law practice in Dallas County. Her practice has included litigation, appellate practice, family law, corporate law, probate and estate planning.
In addition to her law practice, Susan has edited several non-fiction publications and has consulted on a free-lance basis to screenwriters and novelists. She has also taught college-level English and served as judge for screenwriting competitions. As an attorney, she has also submitted manuscripts to publishers and screenplays to production companies. These submissions are the genesis of the Farris Literary Agency, Inc..
Our focus is primarily on book writers, but we also selectively represent screenwriters.
